Paraphrasing, Summarizing, and Quoting

In order to hold up our own ideas, it is very important to learn how support our arguments on what some experts in the field have written before us. Paraphrasing, Quoting and Summarizing are some useful tools to achive this purpose, avoiding plagiarism.

Paraphrasing means writing the ideas of an author using your own words, Quoting means writing the identical words used by the author, and Summarizing means writing just the main ideas written by the author in your own words. In this three methods, it is important to include a citation of the original source. I´ve found this information in the website of the University of Houston-Victoria.
