Self Introduction

Hi guys! Welcome to my blog!

As you know I´m from Spain, but after living 8 years in Chile, I just feel as a world citizen. Besides, nowadays my mother lives in Brazil and my only brother lives in Mexico, so we are a globalized family.

A few months ago, my boy friend got a job here in Calgary, so we moved from Chile in November 2014. I enrolled on the ESL program of University of Calgary because I´d like to be integrated in the canadian society as soon as posible, and get a job here as a chemical engineer. However, my plans have changed a little since I knew 3 weeks ago that I am pregnant, and therefore, now I´m not so hurry to get a job.

The song I have chosen is "Hormigón, Mujeres y Alcohol" that means "Concrete, Women and Alcohol". This song was created by my father Fernando Murias in 1981, the year when I was born, and it is very famous in Spain. I couldn´t find a video of the song with my father playing the guitar, but if you watch this video my father appears sometimes on the screen behind the band:

In this other video you can see my father playing the guitar on the right side of the singer (after minute 1:35):

In 1992, My father died with AIDS after several years of heroin addiction. The music was his passion, but also was his way to self-destruction. Actually, is not possible to understand him without music. The lastest times of his live he wasn´t able to have a guitar on his arms, because it was too heavy for him, so I prefer to remember him as this strong and energetic man who played on a rock band.

Feel free to comment!

  3. Hi Catia, wow pregnancy is a BIG DEAL and also a wonderful phase in a woman life, well that's what people say right? hahahahah I do not want to figure it out, but I am very, truly happy for you.

I like your father's song. It's very 80' style and it remained me about the songs that I used to listen when I was growing up.

  4. Well Jacky, I'm still surprised about the idea of being mother, and it is a BIG challenge for me right now. In spite of the dizziness, the vomits, and the fatigue, I'm really happy :)
